OTTAWA – Day Minus Thirty Three

Well one thing is for sure. I am going to need some serious lessons on selfies before we set off this summer.

On the bright side, this time there just so happened to be a much more talented photographer in the vicinity taking a picture of the school – and I managed to jump in after presenting to them about Path of the Paddle and the summer ahead.

Can you spot me? Here’s a hint: I missed the memo on the 70’s dress up day!

Erik and I have been out and about letting the world know about what we have in store this summer. Today I was at Elmwood School (where I graduated in 2014) presenting to about 400 students, from junior kindergarteners to the graduating class, as well as many of my old teachers. It was super fun to be able to share with that community the adventure Erik and I are about to begin, a bit about Path of the Paddle, the route, and the work we will do on the trail.

Hopefully this summer everyone at Elmwood finds a chance to explore the amazing scenery and opportunities that this country has to offer. It’s great spreading the word about something as awesome as Path of the Paddle and stressing to students who are about to enter exams that life is not all about sitting at a desk studying. A few wise words from Mark Twain sum it up nicely, “Don't let schooling interfere with your education.”
