PATH OF THE PADDLE

Path of the Paddle Website: http://www.pathofthepaddleassociation.com

The Trans Canada Trail (TCT) only approved canoeing as one of the preferred uses of the trail in 2007. Since then, Path of the Paddle has worked hard with the TCT to connect Thunder Bay to Manitoba by water, following ancient canoe paths and connecting present day paddling destinations. The name "Path of the Paddle" is inspired by Canadian paddling icon Bill Mason, whose movies and books depict the joy and poetry of canoeing journeys.

Path of the Paddle's goal is to develop, sustain, and care for our water trail network in northwestern Ontario, both for our use now and for generations to come. The association's mandate is to develop the Path of the Paddle canoe/kayak route into a sustainable experiential tourism product representative of culture and history of the region through cooperative marketing programs, initiative specific promotional products and diverse partnerships.
